This project is not a commission or competition or anything like that. I made it because I wanted to learn it. There's not much of a portfolio that I can show, because the results are not that good in terms of beauty and functionality. So I created this project with the intention of expressing the knowledge I have learned from studying through digital literacy for a year (mid-2023 to early-2024). This exercise aims to improve the ability to create concepts, create layout plans, 3D modeling and 3D rendering as well as organize the interior and exterior well. So this design was really created with no clients, no restrictions, and only my free reign.
This mini residence with a total area of 364 sqft is equipped with a bedroom (with closet), bathroom (with shower), kitchen and living room area. A spacious and comfortable mini house with a clean and calm style that combines organic materials such as wood and leather but also with chrome/shiny touches to give a modern minimalist look.
The name of the style I want to achieve is Minimalist Japanese-Scandinavian style, but with a touch of chrome accents on some of the furniture for a modern and clean impression.
I made the layout plan and 3D model using Sketchup. Then for rendering I used Lumion12. Meanwhile, for post-production of captions or notations on shop drawings or captions on mood boards, I do it with Layoutskp. Lastly, for arranging the poster I used Sketchbook and Meitu.
In a small living room, a modular sofa is suitable for the impression of a larger space, because we are close to the floor. Modular sofas are also easy to arrange. Then, a round coffee table helps the room look flexible for movement.
There is no TV but instead art displays and books are arranged on mini benches. Additionally, a green faux rug that resembles grass calms the busy checkerboard wood-tile floor.
The kitchen area is equipped with a refrigerator, dishwasher, range with oven, pot-filler, hood, sink, and dishes storage. A round dining table with 4 seats. Built-in storage next to the dining table, for storing utensils and cleaning equipment.
In the bedroom there is a twin size mattress. Desk for work or study. There is a lounge chair for relaxing. Just like in the living room, grass rugs also decorate the bedroom.
The bedroom is also equipped with a mini walk-in closet, a very sufficient place to store clothes, shoes, files or other personal items.
The small bathroom is filled with a beautiful pedestal basin, mirror cabinet, toilet, built-in tadelakt bathtub and shower head. The floor is decorated with mosaic tiles.
For laundry needs, there is also a stackable wash and dryer which is sufficient to save space. Above it, a storage shelf (not a cabinet) is built so that the space looks open and not cramped.
