PART I. What is Architectural Animation

Architectural animation is a process or technique to producing a brief computer-generated film depicting a building or architectural design. Like a genuine movie, it is made out of a sequence of static images (frames) that it get play, produce a dynamic and engrossing visualization of building structure. 

Unlike static images, architectural animation allows viewers to experience the environment interior and exterior of the building more realistically in terms of spatial structure. This makes it possible for all parties involved —including investors, clients, and architects— to see buildings and structures before they are constructed. 

PART II. Architectural Animation Purposes

Architectural animation provides a sense of depth that emphasizes the context of the building itself so that viewers can feel the emotion of their vision, a good way to communicate ideas through frames. Architectural animations allow for all parties involved to analyze design concepts, examine potential issues, and study solutions in a dynamic also realistic context. Many details can be displayed through animation, to make it easier to understand the visual narrative, for example:

The Structure Environment. —Because animation is a collection of statistical images from many    required angles, animation can show multiple perspectives at one time. This makes it easier for us to analyze the condition of the building and its interaction with the surrounding environment. 

Visual Effect. —The use of artistic effects is a key element in making animated visuals look realistic. The visual effects for various surfaces of objects are different. Details such as weathering or smoothness of an object vary according to the type of material. This requires a lot of settings, the more sophisticated the software and the better the techniques used, the more realistic and beautiful visuals you will get. 

Lightning Configuration. —Lighting is an important thing in visuals. There is natural lighting such as sun rays and artificial such as lamps. Natural light settings are sufficient to make the animated atmosphere look real, but artificial light settings are also intended to emphasize the structural features of the building. Light settings can also be adjusted for morning, afternoon, sunset and evening conditions, etc. 

Weather Setting. —Weather and season settings in film production make it possible to display building structures that provide an atmosphere appropriate to the region where it is located, such as a tropical climate with fresh rain or a subtropical climate with beautiful snow. 

Whatever Item Details. —One of the clear advantages of animation is that it shows movement. Movements such as people walking, birds flying, wind blowing tree leaves or moving vehicles will make the atmosphere of an animated film look even more lively. Apart from that, perspective and the complexity of camera movements understanding is also necessary to create explanatory videos.

PART III. Architectural Animation Commission

There are several types of design services available;

Interior Project. —A virtual tour of captivating interior spaces, allowing to explore layout, design and ambience of the interior structure. There is an order limit for interior projects, because there are usually a lot of surfaces in an interior project, so there are a lot of details that need to be considered and worked on. Max area for interior: 40 sqm or 430 sqft. Add-ons are available for projects with a max area of ​​80 sqm ​​80 sqm or 861 sqft.

Exterior Project. —Exterior animation showcases the beauty of the building's facade, highlighting the key features and structure impressions. Commissions are limited to one building property per project and only applies to low rise buildings. However, add-ons are available for mid-rise and high-rise buildings. If you need a commission for a suburban building or multiple identical buildings, you can contact me via email or dm kofi/ig.

Landscape Project. —Landscape animation is a park/garden tour or natural and beautiful green environment tour. To organize a garden that looks real and natural, you may need add-ons to help build a delicate landscape design and fine trees (you may also need to order this add-on for exterior projects).

The rendering software I use to produce animation is Lumion. This commission is only for animation rendering and not building (custom) structures. Therefore, you need to provide a ready-made 3D model with complete materials (skp/etc). Apart from that, you may need to provide a file (doc, jpg, ppt, etc) containing references for lighting configuration, visual effects, weather settings, whatever item details to help me produce the render you need. All commissions are added to the waiting list and completed in the order they are received, with an estimated timeframe: 2-3 weeks (about 2-3 months for 10 min add-on).  I will create a new article on this blog regarding the queue list —if needed.

PART IV. Architectural Animation Price

Prices start from $ 1200

What will you get:

You will get 1 min of animation for $1200. Please note me if you want to add moving people or vehicles. You can also request perspective, bird eye/aerial view, specific angle or selling point, day or night setting to be on tape. 

The resolution quality is Full HD: 1920x1080 (30 fps). The finished commission will be delivered via email (gdrive links).

Below are several add-ons available:

(a) Interior max area 80 sqm or 861 sqft + $10

(b) Build landscape/fine trees + $10

(c) Mid-rise building (5-12 stories) + $60

(d) High-rise building (higher number stories) + $120

(e) Commercial use + $300

(f) Total of 5 mins + $4800

(g) Total of 10 mins + $9600

Rules:

Can a commission be cancelled?: Once I start work on a commission, it cannot be cancelled. So please let me know as soon as possible.

I clearly want to say that: Don't Ghost Me, in the middle of commission because *there are no refunds and no revisions if you accept my work*. Please think carefully and prepare well before requesting this commission.

PART V. Animation Rendering Workflow

(a)    First, I will check the payment confirmation or invoice via ko-fi. Next, I will make contact via e-mail as soon as possible (I aim within 12 hours) to confirm details of your commission. After confirmation, if there is no waiting schedule, I can immediately work on your project. The things I will confirm, to start the work are the 3D model and reference files.

(b)    I will make a draft to make sure it meets your wishes and needs. This draft is only a screenshot or snapshot, not the final result. So, the resolution is low ―don't think I gave the wrong one. Once I send you a draft, you need to check to make sure the appearance and geometry are correct, ensure the design’s details and style, and provide feedback. During the process, it is important to always be active in communication, don't disappear when I haven't given you the draft file. The final draft will be confirmed within one week.
